There Go My American Babies

Tom Hamilton's American Babies is the band to watch this coming year. I've seen this band take form and become something delectable. The songs themselves are the root of the greatness here - so many great sing-along hooks - but the incarnation of the band itself is gelled and stellar. Individually and in other projects, each member has a solid pedigree. Together, it just works and each time it just gets better and better.

Here's a clip from last night's (grossly underattended but totally awesome) American Babies show at Mexicali Blues in Teaneck, NJ. Any of the songs could be an example of why this band rules but this one, "There Goes My Girl" "Brooklyn Bridge", shows the ever-emphatic Tommy really belting it out, harmonies from each member (this band has FOUR singers!), and of course some great riffs and solos from the mighty Scott Metzger. The Babies were invited to open up a few dates with the Derek Trucks Band next week in the Southeast. They head west towards the end of October with The Duo including a Halloween show at the Independent in SF (Yeah! I'm lookin' at you, people!!). All the dates are here. It's only the beginning...
